Hardness Testers
Measuring how easily a mineral can be scratched, is the main purpose of a hardness tester. Hardness is measured on the Mohs scale.
The three main types of hardness measurements are: scratch, indentation, and rebound. Within each of these classes of measurement there are individual measurement scales. For practical reasons conversion tables are used to convert between one scale and another. This can also be defined as the relative resistance of a metal or other material to denting or be ending, as well as scratching.
